Why We Should Celebrate Failure

road to vitality - www.yourinfinitewellness.comHave you ever really thought about the phrase, “Life’s a journey, not a destination?”

The?meaning behind it seems to be: Don’t rush through the experience. Enjoy the process.

I agree wholeheartedly.?But I also think there’s more to it than that.

What about the lessons? What about our?failures? None of us wants to focus on failing. Or do we?

I don’t mean that we should wallow in our failures and let it stop us from continuing the journey. But I do think we should give ourselves credit for failing. Because it means we tried.

If you set a goal to lose 25 pounds by a certain date and lose 15, shouldn’t that be celebrated? Or perhaps you want to stop eating ice cream and cave in over the weekend and have a bowl. One bowl. When normally you’d have had it every night after dinner for dessert.?Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that it’s not an “all or nothing” proposition. Big changes come from small steps.

According to John Miller, author of QBQ, successful people “fail forward.” They fail and then they keep on going.

I believe it’s in the striving that we grow. Without the struggle, there’s no celebration for overcoming adversity. The next time you fail at something, take a moment to take it in. Try to see past the judgement, and give yourself credit for making the effort. Failure is part of the journey, not the destination!
