I’ve been wanting to be more introspective and learn how to listen to my inner voice, so I?put an intention “out there” a few weeks ago and when this opportunity presented itself, I took a leap and jumped right in.
Like most women, I have more than my fair share of stress and I’ve been looking for ways to keep it in check. I feel like?we often trade professional success for personal satisfaction.
When it comes to being healthy, I’ve had some of the best training in the world – I know that. But without implementation, it’s not very effective. So I’m experimenting with different ways to find a little zen for myself. Group meditation was one thing I’d never tried and had always been curious about.
We were guided by a beautiful woman named Ambika who was dressed in flowing white clothes. She looked like an earth angel. Her demeanor was serene and her intention was to lead us to a place of deep spiritual reflection.
I had the usual discomfort of someone trying to meditate – mind wandering, back aching from sitting in the same position, and one of my feet fell asleep while sitting cross legged. But through it all, I kept trying to participate to the best of my ability and actually experienced an inner quiet that felt like sitting on the bottom of the ocean. I had found peace for 12 whole minutes.
It might not seem like much, but I have to say the outcome was not disappointing. It left me feel satisfied and wanting more. I put myself on the mailing list and am going to practice solo for the next few weeks to prepare for the next meeting.
One of Ambika’s parting comments reminded me of a bible verse. She said when a group comes together to meditate, the effect is so much more powerful. I couldn’t agree more.
