The Secret to Happiness: It’s Not in the Hustle

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that, like you, I’ve mastered the art of hard work and keeping it all together. But I have to admit, I’m starting to see things differently. What if that’s not what life is truly about? What if it never was?

What if the goal wasn’t to manage more but to welcome more ease? To lighten our load and find more peace within, so we can finally embrace the life that truly reflects who we are.

Many of the women who seek my support are feeling weary, with some even experiencing profound mental and physical exhaustion. I know. I’ve been there. Is this your story too?

Deep down, beneath all the hustle, there’s a voice urging us to discover a different path. A path where we move with ease instead of force, where we don’t have to work tirelessly to earn rest, joy, and a life that genuinely feels good.

Here are three practical tips that can help us transition from a life of constant hustle to one of balance and fulfillment:

  1. Set Boundaries: Clearly define your work and personal time. Make it a priority to disconnect from work-related tasks after a certain hour each day to focus on relaxation and personal activities. This helps create a healthier work-life balance and reduces burnout. It’s going to feel weird at first. Trust me, I know. But stick to your guns on this one. It pays big dividends.
  2. Prioritize Self-Care: Incorporate self-care practices into your daily routine. You’ve heard this a thousand times, but are you really doing it? This can include activities like meditation, exercise, journaling, or simply taking a few minutes each day to breathe deeply and relax. Prioritizing self-care helps replenish your energy and maintain mental well-being. It may not seem like it at first, but I promise you this one is well worth your time.
  3. Focus on What Truly Matters: Reflect on your values and what brings you genuine joy. Make a list of activities or goals that align with these values and prioritize them over tasks that don’t contribute to your overall happiness. Don’t just think about it, do it. Write it on the back of a receipt, in your Notes app, or text it to yourself. This helps ensure that your efforts are directed towards what truly matters to you. As the old L’Oréal commercial used to say – do it “because you’re worth it.”
